Movie Review: Soul

By Jaleel Johnson

The movie Soul is a great animated comedy movie produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The PG-rated film was released on December 25, 2020 on Disney+.  The main character, Joe Gardener, is a middle school teacher with a love for jazz music . After his gig at a club, he suddenly gets into an accident that separates his soul from his body and is transported to the You Seminar center. Now Joe must enlist help from other souls, like the character named 22, who have been there forever in order to get back to Earth.  The movie brings you to a range of mixed emotions.  It changes from sad to happy in just seconds. Some big-time actors that are in the movie are Jamie Foxx (Joe Gardener ), Tina Fey (22), Daveed Diggs (Paul) and several others.   The director, Pete Doctor,  is the same director who did Up and Inside Out

Soul is a passionate movie about how people really feel and connect to certain things.  I give the movie a 10 out of 10.  It’s a great movie that you can watch with the entire family.  You really get a good sense of how Joe is feeling throughout the movie. I recommend everyone to watch it!
